edition vi letter from the editors
By Tate Schmergel and Katherine Barden
The MASH Magazine is now a toddler — we have officially passed through its infancy and entered into a new phase of self-sufficiency. In this stage of development, MASH expanded our editorial process and welcomed *eight* staff writers. We began the development of MASHcast, a podcast series releasing early 2022 (more details to come!), and designed and dropped our second collection of merchandise. And did you notice our new website? We got it done (and more) all within just three weeks!
With each edition cycle, MASH shape-shifts and our six teams avidly take on new challenges. Edition VI was no different. Working under the pressure of the semester concluding, final exams, and some of our senior positions preparing to study abroad, MASH produced its most advanced edition yet: “Going Global”. In our latest release, writers question the internationality of fashion, as well as the implications of global industrial development. These intellectually-charged and curious pieces will challenge your understanding of the modern industry. As always, we invite you to join the conversation and question your own conception of how and where business and fashion intersect globalization.
As we ring in the new year, we will be saying goodbye to some of the amazing original leaders on our team: Elsa Clever (VP of Business Development), Kimberly Grabeic (VP of Design), Rachel Wang (Web Design Chair) and Lindsay Moriarity (Social Media Chair). Some of these lovely faces will be returning after the semester, while others are moving onto new adventures — we wish them the best of luck.
With great sadness, we also recognize that Co-Founder and Co-EIC Kat Barden will be stepping back to an advisory position as she studies in London this spring (she too is going global!). You will be greatly missed, Kat :’)
Happy holidays, we hope to see you in the new year.
